Rehabilitation Services

Columbia St. Mary's provides coordinated and comprehensive rehabilitation services to persons with a variety of disabling conditions in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.

Outpatient Services

Columbia St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Services are designed around you. A Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Therapist will assess your abilities and impairments and then work with you to design a therapy plan of care that encompasses all of your goals and needs – mind, body and spirit.

Your therapy will help you achieve the greatest level of mobility, strength and independence with the goal of returning you to your normal daily activities – whether that’s returning to work, climbing the stairs, or playing your favorite sport.

Multiple sites are conveniently located throughout southeastern Wisconsin to accommodate your rehabilitation program and schedule.

Did you know that many insurance plans do not require a physician order for certain types of physical therapy services? You can schedule an appointment directly with our physical therapy team if you need:

  • Help dealing with injuries related to athletic activities, conditioning or injury prevention

  • Treatment for a previously diagnosed medical condition that is still causing physical problems

For more information about direct access services or to schedule an appointment, please call Therapy Central Scheduling at 414-326-2660.

Direct Access services are not covered by all insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Please check with your insurance company to verify your coverage before scheduling an appointment.

Inpatient Services

When a hospital stay is necessary following an injury or surgery, Columbia St. Mary’s facilities provide acute rehabilitation services to improve mobility, increase independence and safely return you home. A team of healthcare professionals; including physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech and language pathologists; working closely with your physician, will develop a treatment plan designed to restore or improve your normal level of function in work and daily activities while you are in the hospital.

For those who require a longer, more intense therapy regimen, a specialized inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is available.

The More You Know the Better You’ll Feel

Columbia St. Mary’s offers educational classes to the community to provide information on the latest in medications, procedures, and treatment techniques. Pre-surgical classes are also offered to patients prior to joint replacement surgery to ensure the best possible results. Research shows that patients have better outcomes and recover more quickly when they know what to expect and are more involved in their healthcare.

Columbia St. Mary Rehabilitation Outpatient Services are available at convenient locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
